CONTEMPORARY CIRCUS AUSTRIA
Artists, especially those who choose object manipulation as their speciality, develop a certain view on objects. STICK – FABRIC OF CIRCUS sets itself the task of examining the „costume“ from this perspective as well: What if the body shell itself carries the object, becomes the object itself, or significantly influences the manipulation of the object because it is part of it? The costume becomes a flexible object that enters into a dialogue with the body.
Compagnie Fenfire’s new full-length production is a Hungarian-Austrian collaboration. In “STICK”, the three artists (Anna Weszelovszky, Christiane Hapt, Sebastian Berger) blend the skills of textiles with those of a circus artist. The company once again works with strong visual elements and contrasts in movement and appearance, impressive object manipulation techniques and humorous elements.
